Spectra Promotes, Hires in Kentucky

Jessica Wilson Beckmann and Cody Thomas (Courtesy Spectra) Owensboro Sportscenter, Convention Center slots filled Jessica Wilson Beckmann has been promoted to assistant general manager of the Owensboro Sportscenter, one of several promotions and hires that venue manager Spectra made at the Kentucky arena and the Owensboro Convention Center. Beckmann joined the team in Owensboro as director of the Sportscenter in October 2018. During the previous 10 years, she worked in the St. Louis area managing events at venues including a casino, convention center, ballpark and arena. She is an Owensboro native and graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Cody Thomas was promoted to senior event manager and interim director of events. Thomas has been with Spectra since November 2016 and has bachelor’s degrees from the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University.  He will have general oversight of all events in the convention center. Henderson Engineers Promotes Starkovich

Ryan Starkovich has been with Henderson Engineers since 2007. (Courtesy Henderson Engineers) He becomes sports practice director and vice president Henderson Engineers, a building systems design firm based in Lenexa, Kan., promoted Ryan Starkovich to sports practice director and vice president. Starkovich will lead Henderson’s sports and recreation practice while Russ Murdock continues to oversee the convention center practice. Kevin Lewis remains Henderson’s director of venues. The firm has more than 800 employees nationwide, and convention centers, arenas, stadiums, practice facilities, ballparks, recreation centers, and performance venues continue to be areas of focus.  Starkovich joined Henderson in 2007. Serving as a project manager, he has often been the primary liaison to architects, owners and contractors. Former Ruth Eckerd Hall Leader Dies

Zev Buffman was a Broadway producer before taking the lead at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Fla. (Pedro Castellano) Zev Buffman announced retirement as president/CEO in 2018 Former Ruth Eckerd Hall President and CEO Zev Buffman has died, the Clearwater, Fla., theater and nonprofit announced Friday. Buffman was 89 and died of natural causes Wednesday in Seattle. He joined Ruth Eckerd Hall in 2011, overseeing a $10 million renovation of the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater and the initial planning and fundraising for the $11 renovation of Ruth Eckerd Hall. Buffman also advocated for increasing arts education outreach in the community and the professional development of young artists.
