What do ticketing professionals do when there aren’t any tickets to sell? In 2020, we found the answer to that question: They don’t stand still. An exponentially larger volume of refunds for postponed and canceled shows had to be navigated. At some venues, events trickled back starting in late summer and required the creation and management of socially distanced seating maps. Others stayed quiet but for the buzz of preparation around innovative solutions like touchless ticketing. We again take the opportunity to salute some worthy ticketing pros, for their work both in the previous year and in their many other years of busy and more normal activity in the box office. ASM Global named John Drum general manager of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Drum served three years as assistant general manager of operations and most recently as the interim general manager at the stadium, home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. BSE Global, owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, named Adina Erwin general manager of Barclays Center. Erwin most recently was senior vice president of business operations at TD Garden in Boston. In other BSE announcements, Emerson Moore was named executive vice president and chief people officer, Peter Stern executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Jackie Wilson II executive director of diversity and inclusion.
