Live! Roundup: BTS World Tour Dominates With Stadium Events

(Getty Images) South Korean boy band BTS hits No. 1 and then some, taking the top four positions in the largest-capacity category on Hot Tickets with two-show engagements in each market. The three highest-grossing dates all earned more than $10 million, with the vocal group’s two-night stint at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., landing at No. 1. Sales revenue for those shows May 18-19 surpassed $14 million from 98,574 sold seats. It was the band’s only appearance this year in the New York City metropolitan area and the third stop on the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour that began May 4-5 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., followed by Chicago’s Soldier Field on May 11-12. Live! Roundup: Pink Powers On: The ‘Trauma’ Trek Towers Stateside

(Scott Audette) Pink lands in Hot Tickets with two performances reported from the first 2019 leg of her Beautiful Trauma world tour, which launched March 1. Among the shows eligible for this month’s charts, sold-out concerts at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena scored the highest gross, landing on the More Than 15,000 Capacity group at No. 4 with $4.5 million in sales. The ticket count hit 30,499 for the two-show run April 26-27. The first performance was one of two postponed when she contracted the flu in spring 2018 not long after the tour launched. A March 2018 date in Montreal was also rescheduled for this year. (Getty Images) George Strait’s performances have been rare since he retired from regular multiple-date touring five years ago, but he’s back on Hot Tickets this month. Two sold-out performances from March take the No. 1 and 2 spots on the largest capacity category, More Than 15,000. Much fanfare accompanied the King of Country for his top-ranked performance March 17 as he smashed his own attendance record at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, drawing 80,108 fans at NRG Stadium. The concert — the 30th of his career at the Houston event — racked up $12.6 million and marked the end of the annual rodeo, which kicked off Feb. 25. According to box office summaries reported by promoter Messina Touring Group, the overall gross from the tour’s first leg totaled $22.8 million from 328,631 sold tickets. Mendes sold out 27 performances at 23 venues in 15 countries during the European run, which wrapped with a three-night stint at London’s O2 Arena, April 16-17 and 19.
